Track changes to /etc (configuration files) with etckeeper
Etckeeper allows you to keep track of any changes to files in the etc (configuration) directory.

Today is the release of Ubuntu 8.04 and although i use Arch linux for some time now (more KISS) i advice all windows users/linux newbies to try Ubuntu (my GF uses it all the time). And there is a cheat sheet with useful administrator commands.
